At Reach Out Orphanage Ministries, R.O.O.M., our mission is to share the love of Christ by empowering children and communities through abandonment prevention, orphanage support and overall solutions in orphan care.
Prevention: R.O.O.M. abandonment prevention programs empower parents to care for their children through parent education, health interventions, nutrition assistance and daycare services.
Support: R.O.O.M. provides support to public and private orphanages through our Orphanage Care programs. Our goal is to empower orphanages to become clean, healthy and filled with God’s love. We empower orphanages to become clean by replacing outdated appliances, providing new bedding and by securing items necessary to maintain cleanliness. We empower orphanages to become healthy by providing safe drinking water, fresh fruit and vegetables, vitamins, personal hygiene education and routine health and dental services. We empower orphanages to become filled with God’s word by providing gospel materials; specifically culturally-appropriate and age-appropriate Bibles.
Solutions: R.O.O.M. works toward orphan care solutions by promoting short-term and long-term placements in foster families and Transition Homes. In R.O.O.M. Transition Homes children can live temporarily in a family home environment before transitioning into a foster family.
We accomplish our goals by working alongside orphanage staff members and by forming effective partnerships with orphanage leaders. R.O.O.M. works globally with local governments, churches, ministries, volunteers and nonprofit agencies in developing nations. R.O.O.M. also works with churches, mission teams, sponsors and donors in the United States.
Reach Out Orphanage Ministries’ ultimate goal is to help create a world where all God’s children will grow up in a stable, loving family. We look forward to the day when our services are no longer needed.
Reach Out Orphanage Ministries was founded in 2006 by a missionary and teacher serving in Roatan Honduras. ROOM launched our ministry by building meaningful relationships with orphanages, missionaries and churches on the island of Roatan, Honduras. With God’s guidance and generous support from individual donors and churches, ROOM began connecting people and resources from the United States to orphanages where children were lacking basic needs. In 2009, ROOM was officially recognized as a legal 501(c)3 nonprofit.
From 2009 to 2013, ROOM focused on providing basic needs for children living in Honduran orphanages through our Orphanage Care Program. In 2013, ROOM launched the Family Placement Solutions program, called The Scarlet Project, in Honduras to provide emergency health interventions and family placement solutions for infants and young children who would not thrive in public orphanages. In 2014, ROOM expanded to serve children living in Indian orphanages around the community of Orissa, India. Over the next few years (2014 to 2016)
ROOM began spearheading Orphan Prevention Programs in India and Honduras. These programs equip parents at-risk for abandoning their children due to poverty by providing things like education, childcare, nutrition interventions and supplemental healthcare. Orphan Prevention programs also connect families with existing community resources and local church communities. Although we have experienced a tremendous amount of growth and change since 2006, ROOM’s top priority continues to be empowering orphanages with tangible needs through our Orphanage Care programs.
Our vision for the future of ROOM is that orphan care services will no longer be needed; that all children will grow up in loving, family-style homes where their basic needs are met. Until that time, ROOM hopes to continue providing high-quality, Christ-centered orphan prevention, orphanage care and family placement solution programs.
