Founded in 1994, Fundación Amor Y Vida is a private nonprofit orphanage dedicated to supporting children living with chronic illnesses. They provide love, protection, and comprehensive care for orphaned and vulnerable children.
In addition to providing safe shelter, nutrition, clothing and basic necessities, the caretakers are dedicated to giving each child guidance, education and spiritual development. They also work with the older children to teach them technical trades to help them develop skills and talents to provide for themselves in their adult lives.
The devastating effects of the pandemic, recent hurricanes and increasing gang violence in their community have made meeting the daily needs of the children challenging. In 2022, they are down to only two caretakers, both of whom do not take a salary. Our focus has turned to primarily supporting the basicneeds of the children, ensuring they receive the food and necessarysupplies they need each month.
