Founded in 2018 by a licensed social worker and psychotherapist specializing in trauma-competent care and issues related to child welfare, foster care and adoption, along with a missionary who brings expertise in rehabilitative counseling, support services for those with disabilities and specialization in the Deaf community,La Promesa (“The Promise”) Honduras is dedicated to transforming lives and promoting the wellbeing of children to strengthen families and communities.
The staff of Honduran professionals, a social worker and two psychologists provides quality and accessible professional services in the areas of trauma-informed counseling and mental health treatment, family preservation and foster care, training and professional development.
Since their founding, they have trained more than 400 caregivers serving over 600 children in orphanages, foster homes, schools and in disadvantaged communities, more than 50 children were assisted by counseling and mental health services, and four children were placed in safe homes with loving families.
